How to build a quinzee snow shelter

Winter camping season is fast approaching! Here in Southern Ontario we are expecting the first significant snow fall of this year over the upcoming weekend (or so the weatherman says) so I thought I would find some “winter” Scout craft to share with you today.

As we challenge our youth to experience winter camping, sleeping in a shelter other than a tent can offer an experience of a lifetime. The quinzee is a simple shelter to build and can quite warm. The following article is from the “Boys’ Life” blog run by BSA. If you have time have a look around it, there are lots of interesting information on it!

Until next time …

Be safe, be prepared, and keep Scouting!
